Hands’ liberation of revolutionary Blackberry 9700-myluxphone LTD

RIM successor to the original-the Blackberry 9700-has finally landed on our doorsteps. The 9000 is in many ways a hard act to follow. Hardware-wise, it lived up to its name, going where most phones never went with its retro, leathery, nearly clunky looks in an age of rounded edges and shiny curves. Don’t get us wrong we loved the 9000’s aesthetics obsessively — which is why we couldn’t wait to get our hands on its newborn child. A few questions we had in mind: would the 9700 live up to its predecessor’s notoriously uncompromising fashion sense? Would the new feel as good to hold and use in the hand as its loving parent? How would it stack up against other, new devices from RIM? If these are the kind of questions you think you might want answers to, read on for our impressions.

If you’re considering a Blackberry 9500 upgrade or are thinking of taking the plunge into the world of BlackBerry for the first time, I strongly suggest you keep these points in mind when checking out the Bold 9700. Still, you’ll find a few minor shortcomings. None of them are deal-breakers in my opinion–I wouldn’t be naming the Bold 9700 RIM best BlackBerry ever if they were—but the points are worth noting, nonetheless. The BlackBerry 9700 smart-phone offers top-of-the-line performance, functionality and features with support for 3G HSDPA networks around the world, a next-generation (624 MHz) processor, 256 MB Flash memory, built-in GPS and Wi-Fi, a 3.2MP camera and a sharp, dazzling display.

Cutting edge engineering and premium finishes extend to the exterior of the handset as well, with a smoothly integrated touch-sensitive track-pad and a highly tactile, distinctive, fretted keyboard. The dark chrome frame and leatherette back add to the new smart-phone’s sleek and elegant look, while the narrow profile, balanced weight and soft-touch sides allow it to feel incredibly comfortable in one hand. The new BlackBerry Bold 9700 delivers state-of-the-art features and performance in a compact and beautifully designed handset,” said Don Morrison, Chief Operating Officer at Research in Motion. “This sleek and powerful 3G smart-phone offers an incredibly refined mobile experience that is ideal for both personal and professional use. I’ve been using the T-Mobile BlackBerry Bold 9700 for a few weeks now, and I’m nothing short of infatuated with the smart-phone. It has nearly everything I want in a high-end device. It’s reasonably priced–the original BlackBerry Bold, BlackBerry 9000, was more expensive upon release more than a year ago and still sells for $199.99 on contract. And the 9700’s just plain owl’ good-look-in’.
